Dear friends and colleagues,
Welcome to VIA, the performing arts marketplace and business center designed to provide opportunities for the Colombian and Latin American artistic community to market their work internationally.
Our founder, Fanny Mikey, asked Felipe Gamba to design and to lead the first edition of VIA together with the 9th edition of Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro de Bogotá in 2002. Three editions of VIA have been developed, generating collaboration projects between professionals of the performing arts from Latina America and professionals from many other regions in the world.
In 2002, Fanny Mikey, founder of the Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro de Bogotá (FITB), asked Felipe Gamba to design and lead the first VIA in order to generate collaborative projects between performing arts professionals in Latin America and professionals from other regions of the world.
The 4th edition of VIA takes place March 24th to 28th. During those five days, the Festival will bring together 41 theater and dance companies from Colombia; 8 companies from Latin America; 3 companies from Andalusia and 2 companies from Catalonia, our guests of honor in the FITB; 7 children´s theater companies; 7 open air performers; and 22 Colombian musical groups.
Starting in December 2009, VIA opened VIA registration of performing arts professionals interested in collaboration projects with companies participating in VIA, in areas such as research, development, co-production or touring. Exceeding all our expectations, we had to close registrations three weeks before the starting date of VIA.
We are excited to welcome around 100 presenters and other performing arts professionals from 21 countries: Argentina, Armenia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Germany, France, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Poland, South Korea, Spain, United Kingdom, United States and Venezuela.
